He's a top bloke. Really. I've met Him. He's kind and strong and He has a plan for all of us. His mission was to restore us into a relationship with Himself and God.
I've had a lot of sadness in my life and a lot of joy in more recent years. That bag of heaviness I was carrying has gradually become lighter and lighter. I had always wantred Him to ZAP me and that would resolve things. I knew He CAN zap me, but He didn't. It could only be because He didn't want to.
I didn't understand that in the course of time He would sometimes ZAP me and I'd move closer to His intention for me: which is to have an abundant life. But the zapping was less than frequent, because His greater purpose is to work through people to touch me.
His plan for us is this: to work through His Church (whether it's the formal church or the home church or a band of brothers gathering for coffee). That's why all of His commands center around loving each other and supporting each other, that's why we must forgive to be forgiven, that's why we are measured as we measure others. God has designed the whole thing so that we must love others in order to have a good life for ourselves.
Kinda makes sense if you think about it.
