Yeah, I found the quote. Luke 9:60. Nice one huh?
And guess what, last night I cruise back to the place I’m staying and get into a conversation with a person who is aware of “energies” and has all the hindu and everything else experiences, and a lovely dutch guy who I can see is wondering what Christianity has going on.
About almost 3 hours later we had shared and laughed and cried… oh wait, no. We just talked. hehehe.
But by that time I had managed to share the whole gospel and to tell them that in my experience that only the Holy Spirit is the ONLY good Spirit to interact with (and not kundalini or anything else) and that in fact the God of the bible says that all the other “gods” are not real Gods and I even got a chance to say that everyone is either in God’s camp or is in the other camp.
I was amazed at how well it was going.
The lady told me that I was scared and hiding away from the world… I smiled and told her about my experiences of freemasonry, witchcraft, kundalini yoga, kung fu, tibetan golden bowls and having been to Nepal 3 times. She had to agree that I have not “hidden” away from anything at all.
All I found was incredible bondage and pain and heaviness in those things and I was able to explain that I have chosen Christianity because:
- no one in those “energy” things could help me FEEL BETTER INSIDE
- however a pastor at my church helped me get free and showed love to me
- I discovered that Jesus Christ is FAR more powerful than any of those things, He is the boss of them, it’s an either-or proposal
- I discovered that the wisdom of those “deep” things (gnosis) and all of their “power” is useless to help anyone
- I have decided that Jesus teaching is the correct one: only love matters, only love makes a difference
She told me that only some (very very few) people can become “priests” in these “energy” ways and go on to help the word by using “energy” for the rest it’s too dangerous.
I was struck by how Jesus says that ALL Christians are priests and ALL can help the world by LOVING.
I told her that I know that God has SO much more power than anything else, He is so dominant over everything that He doesn’t worry about it and He tells us not to worry about it either – He tells us to trust Him and LOVE others. That is how much power He has, that He doesn’t place a high prominence on it, doesn’t parade it, doesn’t intimidate people with it. His one command to us is to love others. He values love. Love is what the world needs, not spiritual energies.
She said “understanding” would save the world and I said that we can never truly understand one another and poor people livng on the streets can’t “eat” understanding. The only thing that makes a diference to this world is LOVE.
SO HOW COOL IS THAT?!
They listened and accepted my point of view! This morning I am not the weirdo, I am still their friend. They didn’t accept my viewpoint as they own, sadly. But they listened and it didn’t turn into a slanging match, they felt heard, I respected their viewpoint and respected their right to *have* a viewpoint.
Showing God’s Kingdom
In the end I can see why Paul says that he preached the gospel in ACTIONS, he SHOWED that God’s Kingdom is over everything. He didn’t just say it with enticing words. All I had was entiticing words for them, I couldn’t actually SHOW them the Kingdom of God… as Jesus said His sent ones would do. So I’ll keep praying about that. They needd to SEE the truth, not just be promised the truth.
I have no problem “going” and no problem standing up for Him and no problem saying what needs to be said… but what is lacking is the ability to SHOW the Kingdom.

Hey I really like your blog this stuff blesses me.
You’re doing great, standing up for Jesus and proclaiming his Word. Just ask God to open the eyes of the hearts of those you speak to, and in his time he will do it! I have seen it!
Paul went all out to do God’s work and he bore a lot of fruit. But there were times when people wouldn’t listen, and they went out to stone him instead. It’s all there for us, we will be persecuted and hated, but Christ makes us strong through all and we can do anything through him. IN LOVE!
Bless you!!!
Diana
How cool is this!
Not to be argumentative, but I think what you are doing IS showing the kingdom. Christ clearly reigns in your heart! The sovereignty of Jesus seems to be the center-piece of your message and the love of God is, at least from my vantage point, the ruling force in your life.
I can’t imagine what you would do differently in an effort to “SHOW the Kingdom”. Kingdom is oozing out all over!!!
God bless you,
-bill

I’m coming to this late, having stumbled across your blog from…uhm, I don’t remember where. Your words bless me and I have to say, you DO show the Kingdom of God by the way in which you live, and in your emotional honesty about the God you love. Not everyone would be so courageous.
