Obedience redux
I agree, we are only ever and entirely saved by faith. Yes and amen. Done deal. Saved. By. Faith.
But what then? What happens afterwards? How do we get to walk in intimacy? What are all Jesus’ Kingdom parables about?
Obedience. Jesus was obedient even unto death. So…obedient to what?
For God so LOVED the world!
And Jesus said, if you obey my command (to love one another) then He would do many things AND we can ask ANYTHING we want and we will get it.
Anything! But only if we will discipline ourselves and obey His command… to love one another.
Sounds easy?
Loving others means not being selfish, but giving. It means not storing up things, but donating those EXTRA things to the needy. It means helping, sharing, going the extra mile, forgiving.
Loving to a teacher means teaching. For a pastor to love is to come alongside. An evangelist loves by reaching out to the unsaved. A missionary loves by going into the world. A ministry of helps person loves by welcoming with a smile and affection.
Then we can ask, when we are loving one another with our gifts, talents and resources… then we can ask for ANYTHING and it will be given because we are being obedient… perhaps even to death for some of us, like our Lord.
