This is a series of posts…
- “Nothing will be impossible for you” – Jesus Christ (October 2011)
- Whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you HAVE received it (October 2011)
- How does faith work? (Nov 2006)
- Not by might nor by power but by my Spirit (Zech 4:6)
- The Kingdom of God grows – its a process
- In The parable of the sower we have to persist until we bear fruit
- In The parable of the lamp on a stand we will get what we ASK for
Now Jesus goes on with two more parables:
The Parable of the Growing Seed
He also said, “This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground. Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how. All by itself the soil produces grain—first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head. As soon as the grain is ripe, he puts the sickle to it, because the harvest has come.”
Did you see that? “first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head“. That is how faith grows. It’s how the Kingdom of God grows in us. It’s a process of growth.
You DON’T get it all the instant you become a Christian – otherwise there would be 2 billion people walking around on water and healing the rest of humanity! 😀 That’s obviously not happening.
The Parable of the Mustard Seed
Again he said, “What shall we say the kingdom of God is like, or what parable shall we use to describe it? It is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest seed you plant in the ground. Yet when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants, with such big branches that the birds of the air can perch in its shade.”
Bingo! This is what the Kingdom of God is like in our lives – “the smallest seed you plant in the ground. Yet when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants“. It grows from a small seed inside us to a big tree.
Why do so many people not grow big? We need only to look again at The parable of the sower to see that it is the worries and concerns of our daily lives (TV news, bills to pay, morgages for the big house etc.) which choke His Words SO THAT we remain unfruitful.
Please share this post with someone who is searching, or someone who needs to see their life and their potential in a whole new light – as an overcoming victory through Jesus Christ. May God bless you – and I look forward to reading your comments and replying to them!
