More stats on our progress!

Don't let anyone tell you we're not making progress! Take a look at these global missionary stats for 2002 and remember that it all started with one man. Then 60. Then 500. Then thousands. Now 73% of humanity is reached and 33% are christians. You have 2 billions brothers and sisters. Sort of… in a sense. :)There are 429,000 missionaries in the world in 2002. 64,000 of those are from the USA. Go the USA! 😀

In 1974 approximately 50% of the world's population was beyond the reach of the Church, living in unreached peoples. Today, just 30% of the world's population live in unreached peoples beyond the reach of the Church. Source: Mission Frontier. 95% of the people living in the 10/40 Window are unevangelized. More than 3.2 billion people live in that area.

Why is this (missions) such an important topic? Because the bible says that the end will only come when the full number of the gentiles has come in. I guess that the full number of the gentiles is coming closer and closer. Woohoo!

Here is a timeline of missions in Christianity throughout the years. Some more research. In particular I want to draw your attention to this:

Unreached PeoplesUnevangelized % of world:
AD 1900 – 54.3%
AD 1970 – 44.4%
AD 2000 – 28.3%

I was not able to visualize that progress clearly, so I made a graph! 😀

Be excited. Be very excited. God is great. 😀
