Stay focussed on the command He gave us

I think that speculating about what lays ahead for us is just not as important as actually loving someone.

I suspect you would never intend this, but this is what happens. When you attempt to live by your own religious plans and projects, you are cut off from Christ, you fall out of grace. Meanwhile we expectantly wait for a satisfying relationship with the Spirit. For in Christ, neither our most conscientious religion nor disregard of religion amounts to anything. What matters is something far more interior: faith expressed in love.Gal 5:4-6

Don’t be confused about this: satan LOVES it when the church gets distracted by fashion and hype, because we forget to be salt and light to the world. We just spend our time running about like a headless chicken squawking about supposedly “spiritual” issues.

I know God has asked me to write about this stuff (and I will), but I absolutely feel it’s important to say that this (Some Americans Expect Jesus’ Second Coming in 2007) is not at all important, BUT this (Christians Suffer With Muslims, Says Gaza Priest) should keep us awake at night. We should be wondering how we can ease this man’s suffering – he is in the thick of it! He has needs that the affluent west can assist him with.

I don’t care about “open heavens” and making the gospel so easy for people to swallow that they end up thinking that they don’t actually have to change their lifestyles.

According to Jesus and according to the bible it’s all about loving people. The time and date of these events is hidden from us for a reason, so we don’t get hung up on it.

Let’s get our eyes off this nonsense (Pat Robertson predicts ‘mass killing’). Is he right? Is he wrong? Forget about it!

Get on with being salt and light… which is what the world needs.

  1. This is a good post. However, we need to be aware of the signs of the times and we need to be genuinely loving others. There shouldn’t be a choice between them, an either or. Rather, it should be a both and.
Apart from the Lord Jesus we cannot do either. So, I suppose the bottom line would be, more of Jesus and less of our selves.

    Blessings in Christ Jesus!

Yes. The thing is, we can have prophecy, but if we don’t have love… we have nothing. Of the three (faith, hope and love) it is LOVE that is the greatest.
