Eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood (John 6:53)

In Deut 28 there are immense promises of blessing to all who diligently obey God’s voice.

A week ago I spoke these blessings over another person, using her name in the verses. And when I was one third through them, she was amazed at just how many blessings are promised! I went on and on, speaking one after the next, after the next. She sat there amazed, as I spoke them in full confidence that these are her promises. At the end of speaking the words I asked her how she felt, and she definitely noticed a difference inside her. Very cool!

There are so many blessings in that one passage – see below – but they come with four conditions that not even one of us can fulfill… the condition is: perfect obedience. You and I want the blessings. Millions do! We need them. But we cannot be perfectly obedient? So how do we get these blessings which we need?

Ah… that my friend is why Jesus Christ came and walked a perfect life and died in our place, reconciling us to God.

Isaiah says “WHEN’ we make His life an offering for sin (Isaiah 53:10)…

When You and He make His life an offering for sin [and He has risen from the dead, in time to come], He shall see His [spiritual] offspring – Is 53:10

… THEN He sees His “spiritual offspring” and we qualify for these incredible blessings. Yahoo!

So all we need to do is receive them. Remember, we receive “by faith”.

Christian, you are free to receive these blessings and speak them in confidence that they are yours. And they are, IF Jesus Christ walked in perfect obedience and reconciled you to God. IF you can say that is true for you, then you can receive these immeasurable blessings.

In the near future we will all be faced with challenges, more than we are faced with today. And it is Christians who will be able to lead their countries into “surpassing prosperity” through Jesus Christ. Governments will approach Christians and ask them to intercede for the country. If you are a Christian, you need to get these scriptures into your head, you will be asked by people to intercede on their behalf.

So let’s look at the vast blessings God is anxious to pour out on all who qualify…

IF YOU will listen diligently to the voice of the Lord your God, being watchful to do all His commandments which I command you this day,

the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth.

2And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you if you heed the voice of the Lord your God.

3Blessed shall you be in the city and blessed shall you be in the field.

4Blessed shall be the fruit of your body and the fruit of your ground and the fruit of your beasts, the increase of your cattle and the young of your flock.

5Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading trough.

6Blessed shall you be when you come in and blessed shall you be when you go out.

7The Lord shall cause your enemies who rise up against you to be defeated before your face; they shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways.

8The Lord shall command the blessing upon you in your storehouse and in all that you undertake.

And He will bless you in the land which the Lord your God gives you.

9The Lord will establish you as a people holy to Himself, as He has sworn to you,

if you keep the commandments of the Lord your God and walk in His ways.

10And all people of the earth shall see that you are called by the name [and in the presence of] the Lord, and they shall be afraid of you.

11And the Lord shall make you have a surplus of prosperity, through the fruit of your body, of your livestock, and of your ground, in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers to give you.

12The Lord shall open to you His good treasury, the heavens, to give the rain of your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hands; and you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow.

13And the Lord shall make you the head, and not the tail; and you shall be above only, and you shall not be beneath,

if you heed the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you this day and are watchful to do them.

14And you shall not turn aside from any of the words which I command you this day, to the right hand or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them. – Deut 28:1-14

How many blessings is that? So many. But wait… did you notice the four “if” statements? These four conditions are impossible to keep. No one can be perfectly obedient to God. However! We can make an offering of Jesus Christ, He was perfectly obedient, and because of Him we qualify for all these blessings!

And notice Who it is Who does all these “shall” statements? It is not YOU who does them, but YHWH/Jesus Christ who does them to you.

How many blessings are there upon you? Speak them out! Go boldly before the throne. Get used to this, because many other people will come to you in future, asking you to believe for them. Entire countries will come looking for help. They will go wherever there is help to be found.

And your job is to believe – in order to receive. Now speak! Speak for yourself, for your wife and husband, for your children, for your friends and business… Jesus Christ came to give us life abundantly.

It is WHEN (and only when) we make His life an offering for sin, it is THEN that He sees His spiritual offspring (and not before then)

When You and He make His life an offering for sin [and He has risen from the dead, in time to come], He shall see His [spiritual] offspringIs 53:10

Until you receive what He has done for you, His sacrifice (to some extent) goes unused and it has not benefitted you, or your family or your country. What a waste!

But when you DO make His life an offering for sin, and you are reconciled, and you receive all that He made available for you, then very next verse after Is 53:10 says this wonderful thing…

He shall see [the fruit] of the travail of His soul and be satisfied – Is 53:11

He SEES the fruit of the pain He went through on the cross… and He is satisfied. He has satisfaction WHEN you use what He made for you, WHEN you apply it, WHEN you consume His flesh and eat His blood.

And Jesus said to them, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, you cannot have any life in you unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood [unless you appropriate His life and the saving merit of His blood]. – John 6:53

He came to give you life (eternal) and to give you abundant life (here and now). So get in there! He is satisfied when He sees you receiving what He made available for you.
