Regular readers wil remember that we prayed for Afghanistan. So how are things going there?
Taliban Remnants Gone From Afghan Town After Offensive, U.S. General Says – Bloomberg
Marjah, a town in central Helmand Province that was controlled by the Taliban and helped fuel the insurgency with poppy production, is being patrolled mainly by Afghan police and soldiers, while NATO forces focus on Sangin to the northwest, Marine Corps Major General Richard P. Mills said. Even if militants seek to return after winter, they’ll be too weak to have much impact, he said.
“The battle for Marjah is essentially over,” Mills told reporters at the Pentagon via video link from Camp Leatherneck in southern Afghanistan, sitting alongside the province’s governor, Gulab Mangal.
Canadian colonel says Taliban defeated on battlefield – CTV News
KANDAHAR, Afghanistan — The outgoing commander of Canada’s mentoring team in Kandahar says the Taliban were routed this fall and won’t present a significant threat in the future.Col. Ian Creighton says the lull in violence that’s trickled across southern Afghanistan over the past few weeks has nothing to do with onset of colder weather, as in previous years.
He says the Taliban were defeated on the battlefield.
So, these are good things. The largest insurgent group is defeated and the second and third largest are having talks about peace. That’s great! Perhaps now this country can experience some rest and freedom for it’s inhabitants.
Especially for a country which has been wracked with violence and trouble for 2,000 years…
Afghanistan: a history of occupation – Telegraph
Afghanistan has been repeatedly invaded for more than 2,000 years, dating back to Alexander the Great…
And the only difference, the only new criteria, the only change… was prayer based on a belief in the finished work of Jesus Christ. No other new component was introduced into the situation.
Which brings me to the point of this post
When will Haiti ask Jesus Christ for assistance?
The potential scale of suffering is enormous: between 2,000 and 4,000 people dead from Cholera and the UN reporting that as many as 650,000 people could be affected.
The United Nations has warned that the cholera epidemic in Haiti could affect many more people than previously believed.
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said that health officials now estimated that 650,000 people could become infected over the next six months.
He also said that the UN believed the number of deaths could be twice as high as the official figure of 1,800.
I promise you, all of this can be stopped and turned back through Jesus Christ. And make no mistake, Haiti is simply a micro-cosm for the whole world.
So my larger question is: when will the world turn to Jesus Christ for help? Cancun is a mental panacea, it poses absolutely no chance of changing what is occuring.
He stands at the door and knocks – when will we open and let Him in?
Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me. – Rev 3:20
