This is wonderful.
It’s called “The Response – a call to prayer from a nation in crisis“. The slogan is: Historic Crisis. Historic Response. Historic Breakthrough.
Amen.
Texas Gov. Rick Perry to Host Prayer Rally to Solve America’s Problems
Believing that prayer is the only way to solve America’s problems, Texas Gov. and potential GOP presidential candidate Rick Perry is inviting all U.S. governors and Christian leaders to join a prayer rally in Houston later this summer.
Organizers of The Response expect thousands to gather on August 6 at Reliant Stadium for the daylong prayer and fasting event.
“Right now, America is in crisis: we have been besieged by financial debt, terrorism, and a multitude of natural disasters. As a nation, we must come together and call upon Jesus to guide us through unprecedented struggles, and thank Him for the blessings of freedom we so richly enjoy,” Perry states on the event’s website.
“Some problems are beyond our power to solve, and according to the Book of Joel, Chapter 2, this historic hour demands a historic response,” the Texas governor’s invitation letter continues.
“There is hope for America. It lies in heaven, and we will find it on our knees.“
Yes this is the way to go. But that is only a beginning, America must lead the world back to sanity and restore it’s people back into a place of peace and safety: Proof that prayer and faith has a positive effect on the health of society
We saw prayer help the US during the oil spill.
There was no hope of stopping the leak for at least another 6 months.
Then the governors of Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas, and the Lt. Governor of Florida issued proclamations.
The prayer was called for June 27… and within approximately 2 weeks after the prayer the leak was stopped. No more 6 months, just 2 weeks.
I wrote about this here: Governors of Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas and Florida prayed – and received! – July 19, 2010
So you know prayer works. You’ve seen it again and again on this blog.
I wrote this challenge: Praying for the USA – or others on Oct 14, 2010. In that post I share my doubts that the top leadership are willing to take a stand and lead this great country towards the safety and protection that is offered by Jesus Christ. Perhaps Rick Perry will prove me wrong. He has invited the other 49 governors of states to ask for Jesus Christ’s help.
I don’t know what prayer he plans to make, but this might be a good place to start? The prayer delivered to the Kansas House/Senate in 1996.
Perhaps some countries are considering moving into stage 4 (read: Stages of change towards countries seeking the Shepherd) and that’s not a moment too soon, let me tell you, because things will still get a lot worse before they get better (IMHO).
Let’s see if this great country is willing to humble itself and get help, or if it will stubbornly continue to make it’s own way.
Would you like to intercede for peace in your country or in the world? All you need to do is get a map of the area you want to pray for and get this list of scriptures (or download the MS Word version) and speak each scripture out over the area you are praying for. It’s as easy as that.
Great information. Thank you
I’m totally (lord willing) going to take part in this and pray for the Spirit to attend with us and ask God to bring down his grace, forgiveness and blessings on our nation and our world.
I support and believe mightily in the call to and power of prayer, but I did not know you endorsed that prayer you had shared in an earlier post, the one to the Kansas House/Senate in 1996. While I empathized with the pastors feeling, his wording in it’s broad sweeps, spewed judgement in a very unloving way. Generalities serve more to hurt than to help. So, yes, I hope the The Response goes well, but should the words of its prayer echo the prayer you suggest, I would find myself in tears for the victims of hatred that in God’s name might be stirred. God have mercy upon and bless our nation, its leaders and its people. In the name of Jesus the Christ I pray.
Thanks Molly, I am blessed by your response.
I will re-read that prayer and consider my wording more deeply in future.
Once again, thank you for letting me know how other people see things. Good things happen when we communicate with each other like this.
God bless you 🙂
Mark.
Hi Molly
I have read the prayer and I agree with it. What is it you don’t agree with?
The only way out of the mess this world is descending into, is to understand that the consequence of sin (breaking God’s laws) is death.
And to accept that Jesus Christ is the source of life and protection.
When our society decides something is acceptable, it doesn’t mean it is acceptable to God. When we pass laws that we think encourage diversity and tolerance of other people’s choices, we might be creating further difficulties for ourselves by opening a door to evil within our society.
I stand by that prayer because through it we turn our backs on our own human wisdom and through it we re-commit ourselves to God’s values, not our own best-intentioned values.
God bless you,
Mark.
