Back on 2 December 2008 I blogged what at that time seemed like a far fetched series of promises by God, based on the finished work of Jesus Christ. You can look at it here: Signs of life
What progress have we seen since? And especially, what happened last year and what has happened in this last year?

Violence shall no more be heard in your land, nor devastation or destruction
Violence shall no more be heard in your land, nor devastation or destruction within your borders, but you shall call your walls Salvation and your gates Praise. – Is 60:18

Do you remember this post? Peace is increasing! on 14 September 2010.
The good news keeps on coming in SA, posted on 25 September 2009… in this post I showed the crime stats had declined by over 10%!!!
SAPS Crimes stats – while extremely high – show decline, some by over 10%! (local copy of PDF file)
8 September 2011
Now one year later I am delighted to let you know it has happened again!!
The SAPS Crime Statistics were released today and guess what?
- Murder down by 5.3%
- Attempted murder down by 11%
- Common Assault down by 5.8%
- Robbery with aaggravating circumstances down bvy 10.8%
- Theft of motor vehicle or motorcycle down by 10.1%
- Stock theft down by 6.9%
“General” Bheki Cele must have faced a lot of questions about what God is doing in this marvelous country, because he saw the need to set the record straight that he did NOT think it was God who was doing this.
“Prayer could have been part of it, but the bigger portion is the effort made by people on the ground,” Cele said in Pretoria at the release of the annual crime statistics. What the minister [of police Nathi Mthethwa] is announcing here did not happen naturally. It was not the descent of the Holy Ghost in the hearts of the criminals. Some people have worked for it.” – Hard work behind drop in crime
NOTE: General Bheki Cele denied the work of the Holy Spirit in his comments and 5 weeks later he lost his job. There is a wonderful thing happening!! Just like in Australia I simply don’t understand why leaders refuse to give the glory to Jesus Christ. (Having said that, I’m not at all denying that the police have done awesome work). You can vview the statistics here PDF, SAPS PDF on this edited image below…
