Eve was Adam’s bride. We are Jesus Christ’s bride.

This is another revelation that has been in my thoughts for months. I know that it will unfold for me in future, but Im capturing the revelation as I can see it – so far.

The Romans who were crucifying Him didn’t break any bones in His body, but they pierced (cut open) His side.

Ick. I know.

But bear with me as I show you what Ive been noticing about this wound they inflicted on Him.

It’s the exact same spot as where Eve was taken out of Adam. Eve was Adam’s bride. And we are Jesus Christ’s bride.

And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam; and while he slept, He took one of his ribs or a part of his side and closed up the [place with] flesh. And the rib or part of his side which the Lord God had taken from the man He built up and made into a woman, and He brought her to the man. – Gen 2:21-22

So you see, the feeling I have is of a Husband to a bride and the separation between Him and her. His side is cut open and He ascends to Heaven to wait until their marriage supper. The sense I have is one of longing and pain of loss.

Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready; it was granted her to clothe herself with fine linen, bright and pure”— for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints.

And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are the true words of God.” – Rev 19:7-9

You see, He is a Husband to her and He walked right in amongst us (His bride!) and then He left (and yes He came back in the form of the Holy Spirit and He is with us).

But He is also seated at the right hand of God in Heaven waiting for the marriage supper when He is to be united to us in a profound way which Im sure we cannot even imagine while we are THIS side of Heaven.

I know I have only begun to understand this mystery  🙂
