LRA Crisis prayer update

Part of a series

Just a quick update showing what has been happening in the LRA Crisis region

This is 2 weeks of activity since we prayed

LRA Incidents – in two weeks SINCE prayer

It’s always a good idea to compare apples and apples… so let’s compare what we see above to the previous 2 weeks immediately before we prayed

LRA Incidents – in 2 weeks before prayer

So I think that is pretty exciting news, don’t you?

But we can drill in a bit deeper now, let’s view the incidents for the current week only…

Current week LRA Incidents

So just one incident… which was kinda outside the area we prayed for… but was it really an incident? I’ve scanned the crisis mapper methodology (PDF) and it looks great. But was this really an incident?

Really?

A woman asked a boy to wait and he ran away – which probably was the sensible thing to do. If that is a trick the LRA regularly use to entrap 17 year old boys, then yes it’s an LRA sighting. If that woman was a returnee looking for assistance, then it was not.

Regardless of whether that was an incident or not, the number of incidents has now fallen to just 1 for this week. Or zero – if that wasn’t an incident.

Not bad for a crisis war zone?!

I shared this on my FB. Some were excited. Most ignored it. And two people said “correlation does not mean causation”… in other words “you can’t prove it was the result of prayer”. I didn’t answer them, but if I did, I would urge them to consider the sheer number of similar turnarounds. It’s the same turnaround I saw when we prayed for the DRC war in 2010, or for the DRC rape crisis 2011 or the Somalia Famine or Australia’s drought etc.

Another thing to note is that the Crisis Mapper shows an increase in “returnees”… people who escape from the LRA and return to get help. 2 men on the 22nd and 1 person on the 16th. This is good news!

So now what we need to do is keep this number low, or drive it to zero if possible.

If you are praying with me about this, please be encouraged.

If you are not praying with me… why not? Please take note what the bible says about us Christians…

Do not be overcome by evil,
but overcome evil with good. – Rom 12:21

Who does the overcoming? You do. There is no space for passivity. Nowhere in the bible does it say “let go and let God”. That is passivity. Jesus Christ was active every day, overcoming evil wherever people asked Him for help.

And He said “as the Father has sent Me, so I send YOU”. You are to follow His approach. You are to do as He did.

So… how do you do the overcoming? Let’s see what the bible says…

For every child of God defeats this evil world, and
we achieve this victory through our faith. – 1 John 5:4

So there we have it… we achieve this victory through our faith. Our faith is not a general faith, or a vague faith in some neutral “god”. Our faith is on the Rock… Jesus Christ.

YOU are God’s 1st choice solution for this and other problems. It is His will to work through people. He moves His own arm only as a 2nd resort…

He saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no one to intercede;
then his own arm brought him salvation, and his righteousness upheld him. – Is 59:16

God wonders why we don’t intervene, why we stay passive, why we don’t care enough to intercede. And then if He finds no one to support strongly, THEN He moves His own arm. You see, YOU and I are His PLAN A, His first choice, His first plan. PLAN B is for Him to do something directly Himself.

There is no room for passivity in Christianity.

The “new” command that Jesus Christ gave us is to LOVE ONE ANOTHER and it is EQUAL to the first one (LOVE GOD) and this is the same measurement (DID WE LOVE?) that we will be judged with at the end.

I always look forward to hearing your thoughts. Please share this with your friends. May God continue to bless you!

Would you like to intercede for peace in your country or in the world? All you need to do is get a map of the area you want to pray for and get this list of scriptures (or download the MS Word version) and speak each scripture out over the area you are praying for. It’s as easy as that.

One response to “LRA Crisis prayer update

  1. That’s absolutely fantastic Mark. There will always be scoffers till the end but that doesn’t take away the truth! The truth is that these prayers are being answered for this continuous LRA battle that’s been going on for so long & what incredible results & fast. I know first hand the incredible power & mighty healings, replenishing Australia from drought and more that God has done responding to those earnest & faithful prayers.
