Less and less wars – peace everywhere prophecy

Regular readers may be aware of the two prophecies that God spoke to me

Claim 1: Revival Everywhere
Claim 2: Peace Everywhere

and I have been blogging the change as I see it occuring. A few days ago I blogged the change in crime rates all over the world (Worldwide Peace Update Aug 2012) and today Im delighted to show you the decline in wars worldwide!

It looks good, doesn’t it? In fact it is better than it looks in that map above.

  • Syria is a big problem with lots of people being hurt there – perhaps this should be our prayer focus now
  • Mexico violence has dropped
  • I don’t know what is happening in Colombia, I will look into this
  • South Sudan is not quiet yet but at least it is a country and it is democratic
  • The LRA insurgency seems to have quietened down since we prayed
  • Somalia conflict appears to be over. Mogadishu is free and the country is about to hold their first elections…

Somali Parliament Prepares to Elect President – Posted September 7th, 2012

Somali presidential candidates are taking turns addressing parliament, as lawmakers get set to elect a new leader for the country. The election is the latest step in a U.N.-backed plan to create a stable central government in Somalia, which has lacked any such authority since 1991.

My amateur view, based on the data above, is that only Columbia and Syria will be an ongoing problem of conflicts that have over 1000 deaths per year.

Would you like to view earlier maps so you can get a feel of where we have come from? See an earlier posts on 10 Oct 2011 here: Peace Everywhere. Or you can view one of my earliest posts: Wondering what to pray for? A list of conflict countries – Posted on 7 May 2009

If you are like me, you want to see some hard statistics from a reputable source – am I right? Well… Wikipedia has a page which tracks the ongoing conflicts around the world. I have been watching it and taking copies of it since 2009. Their data measurement is based on Uppsala Conflict Data Program and it is recognised by the United Nations. One of the cool things is that you can view the edits that people have made, who made them, and why they made them.

In the screenshot below taken from today’s Wikipedia Ongoing Military Conflicts page, take a look at the two right hand columns. The second from the right shows deaths in each conflict from last year 2011. The right hand column shows this year’s fatalities.

NOTE: Remember, these are ONLY the conflicts that have over 1000 deaths per year. You can read my summary below, but if you want to see the full data then either view the live page or download my PDF of the page.

How many conflicts in the world had over 1000 deaths last year? 9 conflicts in 2011. It’s September 2012 now and so far “only” 4 conflicts have had over 1000 deaths. (4 is still 4 too many)

You might note that Colombia doesn’t show data for this year but it is marked in dark blue on the map. I think that is because the numbers for the map are for a year and this table is for the current calendar year. If I’m right about that then Colombia is already quiet and the dark blue is because of the deaths last year. Yes it looks like I might be right, this war has been going on for 50 years… but according to news reports FARC and the Colombian Government have had many peace talks in 2012 and in fact in the past few days FARC offered a truce which the Colombian Government turned down. Yes there is still fighting happening there, but FARC is in decline it seems. I suspect that the drug trade is also in decline and this is squeezing their income and resulting in them wanting to have a truce.

Now let’s look at the Wikipedia data for conflicts which have had LESS than 1000 deaths in a calendar year… and we see just 11 conflicts.  (And yes that is 11 too many)

You must admit that this is a DRASTIC drop in violent conflict worldwide. Thank You Jesus Christ!!

My first attempt to record a baseline of the conflicts worldwide was on 10 March 2009 when I took a screenshot of Wikipedia and then again on 27 March 2010 – 1 year later. You can view the decline then already in this post: And then there were 8! (Peace everywhere prophecy)

All this change relates to a prophecy that God gave me which I wrote here: Violence shall no more be heard in your land, nor devastation or destruction, posted on 4 January 2009

Would you like to intercede for peace in your country or in the world? All you need to do is get a map of the area you want to pray for and get this list of scriptures (or download the MS Word version) and speak each scripture out over the area you are praying for. It’s as easy as that.
