Over a few years I came to understand that it was God’s words which created the world. He spoke and it was. As simple as that. His words cause things to come to pass.
Isaiah 55:11 So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.
His words accomplish the purpose…
Ezekiel 12:25 For I am the Lord; I will speak the word that I will speak, and it will be performed. It will no longer be delayed, but in your days, O rebellious house, I will speak the word and perform it, declares the Lord God.”
This next verse has always rattled me… in a good way…
Rom 4:17 God in Whom he believed, Who gives life to the dead and speaks of the nonexistent things that [He has foretold and promised] as if they [already] existed.
And during that time of revelation it occurred to me that we were originally made in His image… and perhaps our words also have power just as His words do…
Mark 11:22-24 And Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God. Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him.
It’s a bit mind boggling for me…
Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.
I didn’t really grasp that truth and then modify my choices and behavior… even though God said to not let His words depart from our mouth…
Joshua 1:8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
In other words, our confession is very important. But I still didnt really GET it… until I saw this video today…

So I did a search… what does the bible say about the power of our tongue?
Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue.
James 3:6 The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.
Proverbs 12:18 the tongue of the wise brings healing.
Proverbs 15:4 – A wholesome tongue is a tree of life
Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
Proverbs 15:28 the mouth of the wicked pours out evil things
Proverbs 13:3 Those who guard their lips preserve their lives, but those who speak rashly will come to ruin
Mark 11:23 “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.
Ps 57:4 their tongue a sharp sword.
Psalms 52:2 – Your tongue devises mischief; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.
James 4:11 Do not speak evil one of another
Proverbs 15:2 The tongue of the wise adorns knowledge, but the mouth of the fool gushes folly.
Proverbs 11:9 With their mouths the godless destroy their neighbors
Proverbs 10:8 a chattering fool comes to ruin.
Proverbs 6:2 you have been trapped by what you said, ensnared by the words of your mouth.
Luke 6:45 A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.
Psalms 34:13 keep your tongue from evil
James 3:10 Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing
From the Japanese researcher… warning… the information in the article is presented in a NON-Christian way from a secular POV…
Dr. Masaru Emoto, a researcher and alternative healer from Japan has given the world a good deal of evidence of the magic of positive thinking. He became famous when his water molecule experiments featured in the 2004 film, What The Bleep Do We Know? His experiments demonstrate that human thoughts and intentions can alter physical reality, such as the molecular structure of water.
The rice experiment is another famous Emoto demonstration of the power of negative thinking (and conversely, the power of positive thinking.) Dr Emoto placed portions of cooked rice into two containers. On one container he wrote “thank you” and on the other “you fool”. He then instructed school children to say the labels on the jars out loud everyday when they passed them by. After 30 days, the rice in the container with positive thoughts had barely changed, while the other was moldy and rotten.
Let’s truly and deeply consider this… God originally created us in His own image… His mouth creates… and so does ours. Life and death are in the power of our tongue. Let’s use it very wisely.
What is this man speaking into existence?
