Leaders… you are NOT powerless! (Soccer World Cup 2010 Edition)

I’d like to write a long blog post reminding you of the time we are in, of what is imminently coming, of what we should be doing… but I’d just be repeating what I have already written many times on this blog.

So in short I will just encourage you that we live in a time of change. God’s Presence, His throne, the throne of Lamb will increase in this world. Change can be scary for some.

I wrote some time back about how Jeremiah encouraged the people to build the walls. Each person built the walls nearest their home. This is the same model now taking place right across the world, prayer groups, churches, cell/home groups are all building the spiritual walls nearest to their interests (their homes, families, cities and countries). In this new faith-filled environment the Presence of God is increasing.

THEN I saw a new sky (heaven) and a new earth, for the former sky and the former earth had passed away (vanished), and there no longer existed any sea (ungodliness). 2And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, all arrayed like a bride beautified and adorned for her husband; 3Then I heard a mighty voice from the throne and I perceived its distinct words, saying, See! The abode of God is with men, and He will live (encamp, tent) among them; and they shall be His people, and God shall personally be with them and be their God. – Rev 21:1-3

THEN HE showed me the river whose waters give life, sparkling like crystal, flowing out from the throne of God and of the Lamb 2Through the middle of the broadway of the city; also, on either side of the river was the tree of life with its twelve varieties of fruit, yielding each month its fresh crop; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing and the restoration of the nations. 3There shall no longer exist there anything that is accursed (detestable, foul, offensive, impure, hateful, or horrible). But the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall worship Him [pay divine honors to Him and do Him holy service]. 4They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads. – Rev 22:1-4

Take the time to read those passages. The very thrones of God the Father and the Son (the Lamb, Jesus Christ) are being established here on the Earth.

As these “walls” are built, through prayer and new covenant worship and faith in the risen Jesus Christ who has overcome everything, the “city” which exists inside these “walls” is utterly change.

He measured its wall also–144 cubits (about 72 yards) by a man’s measure [of a cubit from his elbow to his third fingertip], which is [the measure] of the angel. 18The wall was built of jasper, while the city [itself was of] pure gold, clear and transparent like glass. 19The foundation [stones] of the wall of the city were ornamented with all of the precious stones. – Rev 21:17-19

What is being built is perfect. The city is spiritually a perfect cube. The walls are perfectly beautiful. The city is spiritually made of gold which is so pure that it is transparent like glass. Ornaments and stone abound. The whole city spiritually glows with His glory (not our own). We are all arrayed in beauty like a bride prepared for our husband – which is Jesus Christ.

In so many places around this whole world, wherever there are believers a small bit of the spiritual wall being built, Jesus Christ is creating this perfect spiritual city in which the throne of God the Father and His Son is literally being established. Bit by bit, inch by inch the spiritual atmosphere in this world is changing – and the result is that evil is in retreat right across the world.

This sounds like a lot of change that leaders may struggle to digest, and leaders will perceive that the population will also struggle to digest for many and varied reasons. I can appreciate that concern. The good news is that we live in a time of change. The bad news is, some people don’t like change.

But that’s not all. At the same time as good (the end of war, end of sickness etc.) is increasing in this world, evil and evildoers will be more and more in direct opposition to God and the bowls and seals will be broken open upon them. There really is no way to explain this or prepare you for it. Evil is not only being contained by God Himself, but it is going to be actively opposed.

Regular readers will know that for many years I have been explaining this as best as I can. The whole world will have to come to terms with these changes, and embrace the new way of things. It is not optional, there is no opt-out clause. It is Jesus Christ (AKA God) Who is doing this. Mere human beings cannot oppose Jesus Christ (AKA God).

I suspect that the greatest difficulty the world and it’s leaders will have, is their perception that they are powerless. It is a wrong perception. Totally incorrect. Wrong. Don’t permit yourself to think that way. When 911 happened the leaders had a mental breakdown and traumatized the whole world. There is no sense in opposing God Himself. It’s futile!

Instead use your ability to choose… and choose life. Is that a quote from trainspotting?

No, it’s from the book of Deuteronomy…

This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live – Deut 30:19

Let me give you a practical example of this. The soccer world cup in South Africa is a legendary success not only because of human diligence and excellence, but also because of the many Christian prayer groups that have arisen. Exodus Cry is just one small example of that. There are many houses of prayer, many prayer furnaces, and many people praying – including me several times a day.

This success is measurable, just as the rain in Australia was measurable, just as the end of the hurricane season was measurable. Boris Johnson (the mayor of London) observed that “Crime in central Cape Town had plunged by 90 per cent” – Source.

Boris Johnson - Soccer World Cup 2010

But it’s not just Boris Johnson who has noticed the statistics. Before the world cup I went to a seminar at the local church where people explained about human trafficking and showed statistics from previous recent world cups where prostitution had taken off and crime waves had occurred. So what happened?

More than just a dream. SOUTH AFRICA has produced one World Cup flop – failing to deliver on the crime wave which the world – and many South Africans – expected to swamp us. In the run-up to the World Cup international media commentators would have potential visitors believe they would be raped, robbed and slaughtered soon after setting foot on our soil. But this has not come to pass. With 41 000 police officers on duty around stadiums, fan parks, hotels and tourist spots, the predicted World Cup crime wave has not even been a crime trickle. – Source

I don’t deny that human diligence achieved some of this, but I pity the foolish leader who claims the glory for themselves and denies God’s well deserved glorification through this event. Active passionate faith in Jesus Christ made the difference. My point is this… together human efforts and active and passionate faith filled prayers to Jeus Christ can achieve spectacular success in changing the fabric and nature of countries and the world – bringing peace.

Errol Naidoo of Family Policy Institute observed the power of partnerships between praying people and government…

Both local and international media agencies report that South Africa’s sex industry is suffering a dramatic downturn in business as a result of increased awareness and law enforcement activity. Several Christian ministries have set time aside to pray specifically into prostitution & trafficking… The unified efforts of the Body of Christ through the ministry of Project Care are already beginning to experience breakthroughs in many areas. I thank God for all the labour and sacrifice.

Over a week ago I met with an EMT Surgeon (emergency medical treatment surgeon) and asked how many people had required treatment at the stadiums. She replied “not one”. Imagine that! Not even one!!

A few months ago we were in awe. We had met at church and we had prayer that there would be no incidents when 120,000 people met for the world cup Final Draw in Dec 2009 in the streets of Cape Town. Not one incident occurred.

That was “merely” 120,000. How about a world record 300,000?

It was the mayor of London, Boris Johnson, who said in a local newspaper over this last weekend that 300,000 people came together in fan parks and the streets of Cape Town… but there was not one incident. And they have come together over and over and over during this tournament.

Are you listening? I’ve said it so many times on this blog. It is irresponsible for leaders to NOT harness (true) faith in (the risen) Jesus Christ, because where the Spirit of God is, there is freedom and liberty.

Rather than watch the world change around you and feel alarmed because what you used to have control over is no longer yours to control… don’t look at it that way… instead recognize that Jesus Christ is only against those who measurably and defiantly against Him and His bride. Jesus Christ is coming for His bride, He plans to build His holy city, His new Jerusalem…

17For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth. And the former things shall not be remembered or come into mind. 18But be glad and rejoice forever in that which I create; for behold, I create Jerusalem to be a rejoicing and her people a joy. 19And I will rejoice in Jerusalem and be glad in My people; and the sound of weeping will no more be heard in it, nor the cry of distress. 20There shall no more be in it an infant who lives but a few days, or an old man who dies prematurely; for the child shall die a hundred years old, and the sinner who dies when only a hundred years old shall be [thought only a child, cut off because he is] accursed. 21They shall build houses and inhabit them, and they shall plant vineyards and eat the fruit of them. 22They shall not build and another inhabit; they shall not plant and another eat [the fruit]. For as the days of a tree, so shall be the days of My people, and My chosen and elect shall long make use of and enjoy the work of their hands. 23They shall not labor in vain or bring forth [children] for sudden terror or calamity; for they shall be the descendants of the blessed of the Lord, and their offspring with them. 24And it shall be that before they call I will answer; and while they are yet speaking I will hear. 25The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the ox; and dust shall be the serpent’s food. They shall not hurt or destroy in all My holy Mount [Zion], says the Lord. – Is 65:17-25

Yes change can be scary, but it’s also an opportunity! New political parties can arise to represent the growing numbers of believers who have experienced this new wonderful Heaven and Earth. That scripture promises houses and jobs and work for people – that’s also a vote-winner. Many scriptures promise an end to war… and I’ve shown that has already occurred many times over the last year.

You are powerful if you choose to work with Jesus Christ in creating a world free of war, free of sickness and death, free of corruption. You are powerful if you work with churches and God’s representatives to encourage faith and prayer in schools, in parliament, in businesses… as we walk this road with Jesus Christ into war-free future. He is uncontrollable… because He is God. And you are powerful if you align yourself to His agenda and His plans.
